The Judith Wright Centre of Contemporary Arts is owned and controlled by the State of Queensland represented by Arts Queensland, part of the Department of the Premier and Cabinet. Whenever we collect personal information from you, whether online or in hard copy form, we will make every reasonable attempt to inform you of why we are collecting your information, the purposes for which we intend to use that information and to whom we will disclose that information.
If you purchase tickets, subscribe to our e-newsletter, join our mailing list or participate in any promotional activities such as competitions, your details may be retained to issue you an event ticket and for event development, research and planning purposes and for the following purposes:
- to advise you of performance postponements or cancellations;
- to process ticket exchanges or refunds; and
- to keep you informed through emailed or mailed marketing material including our e-newsletters and monthly brochures, about upcoming programs, performances, events, special offers and competitions at the Judith Wright Centre or on sale through our ticketing services;
- to keep you informed through emailed or mailed marketing material about our other services including web services;
- to deal with any inquiries you have about the Judith Wright Centre; and
- for our market research purposes.
When providing your personal information, you are able to opt out of our patron lists for the purposes listed in points 3 and 4 above relating to receiving marketing materials via email or mail - please advise the booking officer when booking over the phone or at the counter, or opt out when booking on-line.
We operate our web-based box office service through the Seat Advisor proprietary technology bookings system (www.SABO.com.au). When you purchase tickets by web, phone or over the counter you provide details such as your name, address, telephone number, email address, payment details, together with your ticket details.
When you purchase tickets, we will use your information to process your payment for an event ticket, to issue you an event ticket and for event development, research and planning purposes.
We may also use your information to advise you of performance postponements or cancellations or to process ticket exchanges or refunds.
We also collect information about your preferences in attending performances (e.g. dance, jazz, circus) and other demographic data (postcode, where you heard about us), so that we can tailor the information we provide to you according to your preferences.
We disclose your information to an external service provider for storage of data, collation and aggregation. The information may then be disclosed to other parties on an aggregated basis (that is, without identifying any individual).
We may also disclose your information to your bank or financial institution if required in order to process your payment.
When you visit the Judith Wright Centre website, our internet service provider records your visit and logs information about your visit (sometimes known as click stream data). Some of the information logged includes:
- number of sessions you spend on the website
- your country of residence
- your usage patterns (i.e. what pages you accessed)
- the time and date of your usage
- your operating system.
We use this information to help us improve visitors’ on-line experiences. The collection of this type of information is common by most websites.
At any time you may withdraw your consent to us using and disclosing your personal information in any of these ways. Under the Information Privacy Act 2009, you have a right to access our documents to the extent that they contain your personal information. You also have the right to amend those documents if your personal information is inaccurate, incomplete, out of date or misleading.
